More PRC Teams Win Awards at Three Weekend Tournaments

Two elementary school teams competed in a 40-team event in Hudsonville. The Koala Bots from Cooper Elementary (Pearl Morse, Aiden Cornelius, and Addie Bilski) placed 13th after the qualifying rounds and finished in 5h place in the final round.  They were presented with the Build Award which recognizes a well-constructed robot that is built with a high degree of attention to detail in order to hold up to the rigors of competition.  The award also earned them an invitation to the VEX IQ State Championship to be held in Monroe, Michigan in March.  The Koala Bots are coached by John Morse, Adam Cornelius, and Craig Davies.


The Hallow Knights from Gilkey Elementary (Ezekiel Blair, Penelope Carruthers-Makarewich, Madilyn Fisher, and Charles Gerds) placed 31st after the qualifiers.  The Hallow Knights are coached by Angalena Carruthers-Makarewich and Jamie Raulston.


Four middle school teams competed in a 33-team event at the Grandville Competition Center.  Team Tech Titans (AJ Billheimer, Liam Gault, Logan Warner, and Isaac Wronski) compiled an impressive record of 5-0-1, placed 2nd after the qualifying matches, and captained the 2nd place alliance in the final rounds.  They lost their semifinal match. The team is coached by Brooke Billheimer and Matt Billheimer.


Team Gear Gremlins (Alyssa Warren, Mia Williams, and Aubrey Bates) placed 6th after the qualifying rounds, captained the 5th place alliance, and lost in the semifinals.  The team was presented with the Innovate Award which recognizes an effective and well-documented design process for a novel aspect of the team’s robot design or game-play strategy.  The team is coached by Julie Williams and Matt Warren.


Team Roll For Initiative (Elliott Johnson, Mason Potts, and Mason Ritchie) placed 18th after the qualifying rounds, captained the 11th place alliance, and lost in the round of 16.  They are coached by Joe Potts.


Team Error 404: Team name Not Found (Ava Anderson, Mason Anderson, Lucas Pauly, and Anne Wilkinson) placed 20th after the qualifiers, were invited to join the 8th place alliance, and lost in the quarterfinals.  They are coached by Marcus Anderson and TJ Wilkinson.


High School team Siege (Walker Clippinger, Owen Ferris, and Isaiah Looney-McPhillips) competed in the Kalahari Classic Signature Event in Sandusky, Ohio.  The event hosted 168 high school teams from across the country.  Team Siege finished with an impressive 5-3 record in 25th place in their 86-team division.  They are coached by Matt Clippinger and Jason Ferris.
